To the Editor:
As per the order of supreme court, The Department of Justice gave advertisement in media seeking suggestion for improvisation of current collegium system. On the last day of the given deadline(Nov 13th) Satta Panchayat Iyakkam, sent representation on this issue. Particularly we insisted transparency and demanded the system to come under the purview of RTI. Also we demanded proper system to look into the complaints received on judges who are being considered in Collegium Panel.

நீதிபதிகளைத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் கொலீஜியம் முறை குறித்து பொதுமக்கள்/பொதுநல அமைப்புகளின் கருத்துக்களை வரவேற்று நாளிதழ்களில் விளம்பரம் தரப்பட்டிருந்தது. கருத்துக்களை அனுப்ப கடைசி நாளான Nov13,2015 அன்று சட்ட பஞ்சாயத்து இயக்கம் உச்ச நீதி மன்ற குழுவிற்கு அனுப்பி வைத்த ஈமெயிலில் மனுவில் நீதிபதிகளைத் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பதில் எந்தவகையில் வெளிப்படைத்தன்மையைக் கொண்டுவரலாம் என்பது குறித்தும்... கொலீஜீயத்தின் செயல்பாடுகளை, ஆவணங்களை, முழுமையாக தகவல் உரிமைச் சட்டத்தின் கீழும் கொண்டு வரவேண்டும் என்றும் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளோம். மேலும் நீதிபதிகளின் மீதான புகார்களை முறையாக விசாரிப்பதற்கான வழிமுறைகளை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்றும் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளோம்.

We are happy to hear that the judiciary is accepting public views on the improvisation of current collegium system which is in place from 1981.
We (Satta Panchayat iyakkam) are a group of young activist majorly working on law awareness and transparency in the government.we give free legal aid and run a call center for the same.
Transparency in the selection of judges would reduce corruption in process and stop wrong people from entering the judicial system. Transparency mechanism can be ensured in some ways which are stated below:
Our recommendations on appointment of the high court & supreme court judges are
1.All the applicants and nominees for the post of high courts & supreme court judges should be listed in the website for a period of 90 days. with all their property statements and their track records and the merits for the post.
2.There must be a public complaint accepting mechanism. which should ensure every complaint on the nominees should be properly acknowledged and should be subjected to the scrutiny,This way public can also participate in their part for this selection process.
3.The whole process of the collegium system must come under the Purdue of Right to information act 2005. so that transparency is ensured and every citizen will also get enough opportunity to eliminate wrong person entering into the judicial system, we the people of India would have more confidence in the judiciary.
Since the removal of judges can only be done by impeachment. it is necessary there must be strict accountability in the part of the collegium to ensure necessary measures are taken.
we hope that our suggestions would be taken into consideration.
