Press Release: 150 countries join the Art of Living's International Day of Yoga celebrations

Chilling temperatures, tough terrains and conflict did not deter yoga enthusiasts from celebrating the 3rd International Day of Yoga. Millions across the world joined the Art of Living to practise the ancient system of Yoga. People from all walks of life including parliamentarians, army officials, corporates, students, home-makers, even prisoners joined the Yoga Day celebrations. Events were held all over the world, right from the Japanese Parliament to Machu Pichu in Peru and Russia to South Africa.

Gurudev led thousands of people in Yoga and meditation in Himachal Pradesh and congratulated all the teachers across the world for making Yoga Day a big success.

In Chennai, 30,000 students and adults in over 60 locations rolled out their Yoga mats and marked the day. This was done in collaboration with Rotary Club East

Yoga Rave in Namma Chennai on June 21, 2017


Chennai 19, 2017: Art of Living presents a Yoga Extravaganza - YOGA RAVE 2017, to coincide with International Yoga Day on 21st June 2017. The Yoga Rave is a first of its kind in Chennai combining dance, music and yoga with visual effects. It is a purely no-alcohol, no-substance event, with high levels of intoxication arising purely out of just music and yoga!  Our Yoga experts along with the music will be leading everyone into this beautiful state!

 

This event is organized to introduce Yoga to every segment in a light and easy manner and an opportunity to create a healthy, happy society. Opportunity to sign up for Yoga and Meditation programs will also be available.

PR- Limca Book of Record for fastest set of 108 Sun salutations

Chennai Yoga exponent V Jayakumar successfully bid for the fastest 108 rounds of Surya Namaskars (Sun Salutations) this morning, June18th in Chennai. His phenomenal feat has been recorded and certified by gazetted officers and Yoga teachers and submitted to the Limca Book of Records. He completed the 108 rounds in 12.49 minutes beating the earlier record by several minutes (earlier record was 19 minutes).

Chennai, 18th June 2017: An aircraft maintenance engineer with KLM Airlines, V Jayakumar from Chennai successfully made a bid for a world record by doing 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar in 12.49 minutes on this morning, as part of the Art of Living's "Sun Never Sets on Yoga" worldwide campaign. He performed the feat at Elliots Beach and has submitted the details to Limca Book of Records.

 

From being a victim of back ache and knee pains to being the fastest in the world at doing 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar, Jayakumar has come a long way! "My erratic work schedule, constant travelling and irregular sleeping habits gave me several life-style related problems at a young age. I suffered from severe body pains due to obesity. Knee pains and back aches began tormenting me by the time I hit my 30s," he laments, adding that the turning point came when he took up the Art of Living's Sri Sri Yoga.

 

During one of his Yoga classes, he managed to finish 108 rounds and 30 pushups in under 30 minutes. He's been consistently practising for the last 108 days. "I experienced a wonderful sense of calm descend on me. My aches and pains went away, my body listens to me, my mind is serene and I have more energy than ever before," says Jayakumar about the way Yoga changed his life. He has since done a certificate course in Yoga and is a teacher with the Art of Living, helping many others find joy and peace from the practice.

 

Around 400 people joined him at Elliots Beach today for the "Sun never sets on Yoga" campaign that will saw yoga enthusiasts from all over the world gather at a popular landmark in their city and welcome the rising sun with Surya Namaskar. Beginning at 5:45 AM, the event featured a session of the Government of India's Common Yoga Protocol followed and a guided meditation, apart from Jayakumar's world record challenge.

Engineer attempts world record for the fastest 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar

 

Chennai, 16th June 2017: An aircraft maintenance engineer with KLM Airlines, V Jayakumar from Chennai will attempt to set a world record by doing 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar in less than 15 minutes on the 18th of June as part of the Art of Living's "Sun Never Sets on Yoga" worldwide campaign. He's set to perform the feat at Elliots Beach in Chennai where he will be joined by officials from the Limca Book of Records.

 

From being a victim of back ache and knee pains to being the fastest in the world at doing 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar, Jayakumar has come a long way! He has since done a certificate course in Yoga and is a teacher with the Art of Living, helping many others find joy and peace from the practice.

 

Around 200 people will be joining him at Elliots Beach (near Cozee restaurant) on the 18th for the "Sun never sets on Yoga" campaign that will see yoga enthusiasts from all over the world gather at a popular landmark in their city and welcome the rising sun with Surya Namaskar.

Beginning at 5:30 AM, the event will feature a session of the Government of India's Common Yoga Protocol followed by Surya Namaskar and a guided meditation, apart from Jayakumar's world record attempt.

NRI community Felicitates Sri Sri With Bharat Gaurav Award at UN Headquarters

We wanted to inform that, The Art of Living Founder, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was accorded the Bharat Gaurav Lifetime Achievement Award at the UN Headquarters in New York. He was conferred the award for his unique contributions in promoting the ethos of Indian culture among youth, connecting them to spirituality, weaning them away from substance abuse and violence all over the world.

Some of the former recipients of this award have been Pepsi CEO, Indira Nooyi, brave flight attendant Late Neerja Bhanot, and veteran actor Manoj Kumar.

Bengaluru, 10 June 2017The Art of Living Founder, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was accorded the Bharat Gaurav Lifetime Achievement Award at the UN Headquarters in New York. He was conferred with the award for his unique contributions in promoting the ethos of Indian culture among youth, connecting them to spirituality, weaning them away from substance abuse and violence all over the world.

Some of the former recipients of this award have been Pepsi CEO, Indira Nooyi, brave flight attendant Late Neerja Bhanot, and veteran actor Manoj Kumar. This year, other distinguished personalities to receive this award were film director Madhur Bhandarkar, founder of Sulabh Shauchalay, Bindeshwar Pathak, TV Asia chief, H. R Shah, astronaut- Late Kalpana Chawla, among 26 other distinguished individuals.  


The award has been instituted by the Sanksriti Yuva Sanstha, a Jaipur-headquartered NGO with a wide international presence. The Bharat Gaurav Award felicitates individuals 'who have achieved a landmark in their profession and made India proud.'
