Aoun lauded Gurudev's efforts in conflict resolution in the region. Gurudev was visiting the middle eastern country after 15 years.

_Sri Sri-founded organization has been relentlessly working in Lebanon for peace and rehabilitation_

*Bengaluru, 19 December 2018*: After a historic visit to the UAE, global humanitarian and voice for peace and diversity, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was accorded a warm welcome in Lebanon by statesman, scholars, policy makers and the general public alike. 

 

During his brief visit, Gurudev met Lebanese President Michel Aoun at his presidential palace and Prime Minister Saad Hariri to discuss the ongoing civil war in Lebanon. Aoun lauded Gurudev's efforts in conflict resolution in the region. Gurudev was visiting the middle eastern country after 15 years. The founder of The Art of Living in his interaction with the state leaders discussed solutions to root out the trauma from the difficult past that the country has been through and usher in an era of peace and stress-free living.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar-founded International Association For Human Values has been working with the locals and the refugee communities (including Syrian refugees) in Lebanon and Jordan to provide rehabilitation and trauma relief with a vision to help them rebuild their lives more meaningfully.

"Our main thing is to see that we are all connected," Gurudev said as part of an interactive session with Prof. Louis Saliba, author and Indianist scholar at an event titled 'Celebrating Diversity - Intercultural and Interfaith Reflections', "All religions are connected and it all comes down to the root of them all which is spirituality. Differences should not lead one to conflicts and unity should not weaken our roots."

Welcoming Gurudev as "one of the global ambassadors of peace, goodwill, brotherhood, cultural understanding," Mr. Sanjiv Arora, Indian Ambassador to Lebanon, shared while speaking at Waves of Happiness event in Beirut which was attended by over 1700 participants, "Wherever he travels, he makes friends and I would say that, that is very true of Lebanon, a country with whom, India's friendly relations are steeped in history. His brief visit here brings this message of peace, love, brotherhood and also reaffirms the historic ties of friendship between Lebanon and India."

Gurudev later also visited the Children's Cancer Center in Lebanon that treats children with cancer for free.

Through a series of workshops in Lebanon and Jordan (in and around Syrian refugee camps - Al-Za'tare, Al Mafraq, Al Zarqa and Al Azara governorates), Sri Sri Ravi Shankar-founded International Association For Human Valued has reached out to over 3000 war-affected children, 350 vulnerable youth,  frontline workers, caregivers and families in highly vulnerable areas of Jordan and Lebanon since December 2016.

Art of Living in Jordan and Lebanon

● Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has visited Jordan and Lebanon earlier as part of his peace mission. During the 2006 Lebanon-Israel conflict, The Art of Living and IAHV volunteers actively helped people on both sides of the conflict cope with the severity of the situation.

● Around 2500 people have taken the Art of Living programs in Lebanon.

● The foundation has been operational in refugee camps in Tripoli since last 2 years.

● Programs for women are being conducted in South Lebanon

● To reduce these symptoms and help the children cope with their new reality, IAHV has conducted Stress Relief and Resilience (SRR) workshops for numerous children.

● In December 2016 , IAHV also spearheaded an 18 month long project co-funded by the European Union , "Healing, Resilience, and Non-Violent Empowerment of Children impacted by Armed Conflict in Jordan Lebanon" with an aim to enhance the well-being, resilience and psychological reintegration of 8,000 children impacted by armed conflict

In today's hearing by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, in the Thanjavur Temple Case, the Honorable Judges recognized that the Art Of Living had obtained all necessary permissions from the appropriate authorities, which includes erecting a temporary tent within the temple grounds in order to conduct the spiritual and cultural program called Vigyan Bhairav. They also noted that there is a precedence of private events being held within the temple like film shootings.

13 December 13, 2018, Bengaluru: In today's hearing by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, in the Thanjavur Temple Case, the Honorable Judges recognized that the Art Of Living had obtained all necessary permissions from the appropriate authorities, which includes erecting a temporary tent within the temple grounds in order to conduct the spiritual and cultural program called Vigyan Bhairav. They also noted that there is a precedence of private events being held within the temple like film shootings. 

"Unlike film shootings, the meditation event organised by the Art Of Living was in-line with the activities that can be conducted within a temple as outlined in Article 25 - 26 of the Indian Constitution. " says Ravi Ananth Padmanabhan, advocate of the Art Of Living.

Also, the World Culture Festival 2016 case reference taken by the petitioner was completely rejected by the Honorable Judges with full force.

Our volunteers are doing a lot of work in Gaja Cyclone affected areas of  Vedaranyam and Pudukottai. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was scheduled to go there to oversee the rehabilitation work. While he was there, the local people wanted Gurudev to facilitate a meditation program. 

Our local organizers had obtained all permissions from both the Hindu endowment board and the Archaeological Survey of India to organize this program in the Shiva temple in Thanjavur.  Since it is normal to have spiritual discourses in temples, the program was organised here. This is the first time a discourse on Kashmiri Shaivism is happening in South Tamil Nadu.

It is unfortunate that a couple of people with vested interests, who are least bothered about the temple, are quoting false allegations of the Yamuna flood plains and have approached the courts to prevent these spiritual activities from taking place in Tamil Nadu.

We have made alternative arrangements and the program is will taking place at the nearby Kaveri Mantapam.

Art of Living volunteers work in Gaja affected villages in South India

Chennai: December 6, 16.00 IST: In the aftermath of the cyclone Gaja, the Art of Living volunteers swung into action to provide relief materials to the affected villages of Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Pudukottai and Nagapattinam. As on 5^th December, we have covered 154 villages, benefiting 21456 families and distributed 81 tons worth materials, including essential supplies like potable water, rice, dals, milk powder, bread, etc. Tarpaulin sheets for those whose homes were damaged. Approximately 100+ volunteers are physically working on this project, everyday, backed by many more volunteers who are working hard to procure and reach the supplies to the common relief centre for the 4 districts.

 

Besides providing relief materials, under the guidance of Swami Sarveshwar, Brahmmachari SriTej, Senthil Subramaniyan, Youth Co-ordinator for Tamil Nadu and counsellors Rakesh Babu and Dr. Damodaran taught meditation & breathing exercises to the affected families. Mr. Senthil Subramaniyan  shared that, "It was heartening to see some of the villagers share that more than the relief materials which would last 3-4 days, the mediation sessions gave them mental peace and hope to face Life challenges." As part of long term relief measures, these sessions will continue in the affected districts.

தமிழக கவர்னர் நேற்று வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிவிப்பு ஆணையின்படி நாளை(06-12-2018) மாலை 4 மணிக்கு, தமிழக சட்டசபையின் சிறப்புக்கூட்டம் நடைபெற இருப்பதாக அறிய வருகிறேன். மேகதாது அணை கட்ட

கர்நாடக அரசு எடுத்து வரும் முயற்சிகள் குறித்து விவாதித்து, தீர்மானம் இயற்றுவதற்காக இக்கூட்டம் கூட உள்ளதாகவும் அறிகிறேன்.

தமிழக டெல்டா பகுதிகள் கஜா புயலால் ஏற்கனவே கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள நிலையில் உள்ளது. இந்த சூழலில், காவிரியில் நமக்குக் கிடைக்கவேண்டிய தண்ணீர் உரிய அளவில் கிடைக்கவில்லை என்றால், அது விவசாயிகளுக்கு மட்டுமல்ல அதைக் குடிநீராகப் பயன்படுத்தும் பல இலட்சம் பேருக்கும் பாதிப்பை ஏற்படுத்தும். இதனை உணர்ந்து, இதுகுறித்து தமிழக அரசு சட்டசபையில் சிறப்புக்கூட்டம் நடத்துவது வரவேற்கத்தக்க  நல்ல முயற்சியே..!!

இந்த சிறப்புக்கூட்டத்தில் ஒட்டுமொத்த தமிழக மக்களின் பிரதிநிதிகளாக ஆளுங்கட்சி,எதிர்கட்சி,கூட்டணிக்கட்சிகளின் பிரதிநிதிகள் சட்டமன்றத்தில் தங்கள் நிலைப்பாடுகளை,கருத்துக்களை முன்வைத்துப் பேச உள்ளார்கள். மக்கள் பிரதிநிதிகள் முன்வைக்கும் வாதங்கள் மக்களுக்கு முழுமையாக சென்று சேரவேண்டும் என்று கருத்தில் உங்களுக்கு உடன்பாடு இருக்கும் என்று நம்புகிறேன். மேலும், வாக்களித்த பொதுமக்களுக்கு தங்கள் பிரதிநிதிகளின் சட்டமன்ற செயல்பாடுகளை முழுமையாகத் தெரிந்து கொள்ள உரிமையும் உண்டு. இதனைச் சாத்தியமாக்க, இந்த சிறப்புச் சட்டமன்ற நிகழ்வை நேரடியாக தொலைக்காட்சி, இணையதளத்தில் ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யவேண்டும் என்று சட்ட பஞ்சாயத்து இயக்கம் சார்பாக கோரிக்கை வைக்கிறோம்.

மேகதாது அணை பிரச்னை மற்றும் அதனால் தமிழகத்திற்கு ஏற்படும் பாதிப்புகளை ஆளுங்கட்சி, எதிர்கட்சியினர் பேசுவதை நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்வதன் மூலம் கடைக்கோடி டெல்டா கிராமத்தில் உள்ள விவசாயி கூட தன்னுடைய பிரச்னை பற்றி சட்டமன்றத்தில் என்ன கருத்து முன்வைக்கப்பட்டது என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ள இயலும். மேலும், செய்தியை விரிவாகப் பதிவு செய்ய ஊடகங்களுக்கும் இது உதவியாக இருக்கும். 

கேரளா-கர்நாடகாவில் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு:

பக்கத்து மாநிலமான கேரளாவில் சட்டமன்ற நிகழ்வுகள் இணையதளத்தில் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யப்படுகிறது. ( http://103.251.43.36/indexnew.htm?source=rtmp://103.251.43.36/live/livestream&type=vod ). தற்போதுகூட கேரளத்தில் சட்டசபை கூட்டம் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது(டிசம்பர் 13 வரை). கேரள அரசு சட்டசபையின் இணையதளத்தில், சபை நிகழ்வுகள் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு கொடுக்கப்படுவதோடு, ஒவ்வொரு சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினர் பேசியவற்றையும் இணையத்தில் வீடியோக்களாகப் பதிவேற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. நேற்றைய விவாத்தில்(04-12-2018) பேசிய 33 எம்.எல்.ஏக்களின் வீடியோக்கள் தற்போது இணையதளத்தில் உள்ளது, யார் வேண்டுமானாலும் இதைப் பதிவிறக்கம் செய்துகொள்ளும் வசதியும் தரப்பட்டுள்ளது என்பதைத் தங்கள் கவனத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவருகிறோம்.

கர்நாடகாவின் சட்டசபை நிகழ்வுகளை நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்ய தனியார் தொலைக்காட்சிகளுக்கு அனுமதியளிக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த வழிமுறையைத் தமிழகமும் பின்பற்றினால், மாநில அரசிற்கு எந்தவித செலவுமின்றி சட்டசபை நிகழ்வுகளை ஒட்டுமொத்த தமிழ்நாட்டு மக்களும் பார்க்கச்செய்ய முடியும்.

இதனைக் கருத்தில்கொண்டுதான், நாடாளுமன்ற நிகழ்வுகள் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யப்படுவதுபோல்,  சட்டமன்ற நிகழ்வுகளை நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யக்கோரி 2012ல் சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் பொதுநல வழக்கு தொடுத்தோம்(WP14824/2012 - வழக்கு தொடுத்த குழுவில் நானும் ஒருவன்). தமிழக அரசு பல்வேறு காரணங்களை முன்வைத்து நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு தர மறுத்துவருவதும், இவ்வழக்கு நிலுவையில் இருப்பதும் உங்களுக்கு நன்கு தெரியும். 

சட்டமன்றத்தின் சிறப்பு நிகழ்வுகள் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யப்படுகிறது என்று எங்கள் வழக்கிற்கு சட்டசபை செயலாளர் உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் தாக்கல் செய்த பதில் மனுவில்(03-09-2012) குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. கவர்னர் உரை, பட்ஜெட் உரை போன்ற சிறப்பு நிகழ்வுகள் ஏற்கனவே நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யப்படுகிறது. அந்த அடிப்படையில், மேகதாது அணை குறித்து நாளை(06-12-2018) நடைபெறவுள்ள சிறப்பு சட்டமன்றக் கூட்டத்தையும் தொலைக்காட்சிகளில் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யக்கோருகிறோம். ( உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் தமிழக அரசு தாக்கல்  செய்த பதில் மனுவின்படி, மேகதாது குறித்தான இச்சிறப்பு நிகழ்வானது நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு கொடுக்கப்பட்டதா இல்லையா என்பதைக் குறிப்பிட்டு, அடுத்த விசாரணையின்போது  நாங்கள் மனுத்தாக்கல் செய்ய உள்ளோம் என்பதைத் தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறோம்.)

எங்களின் பொதுநலவழக்கிற்கு, நீதிமன்றத்தில் தமிழக அரசு தாக்கல் செய்த ஆவணத்தின்படியும், கடைக்கோடி விவசாயி ஒருவரும் தன்னுடைய பிரச்னை குறித்து சட்டமன்றத்தில் என்ன பேசப்பட்டது என்பதை "முழுமையாக" அறியும் உரிமை அந்த விவசாயிக்கு உள்ளது என்ற அடிப்படையிலும் நாளை சட்டமன்றத்தில் நடைபெறவுள்ள "மேகதாது அணை" குறித்தான சிறப்பு விவாதம் தொலைக்காட்சியில் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு செய்யப்படவேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்துகிறோம்.

ஜனநாயகம் என்பது மக்களுக்காக, மக்களால் நடத்தப்படும் மக்களுடைய அரசாங்கம். இதில் மக்கள் பிரதிநிதிகளின் செயல்பாடுகள் முழுமையான வெளிப்படைத்தன்மையுடன் இருப்பது மிக அவசியம். இதனைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டும், உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டுகிறோம். 

இணையதளத்தில் நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பு தருவதோ;  தனியார் தொலைக்காட்சிகள் சட்டசபை நிகழ்வுகளை முழுமையாகப் படம்பிடிக்க அனுமதிப்பதோ, எதுவாக இருந்தாலும் அதுபோன்றதொரு நிகழ்வு இதுதான் தமிழக சட்டமன்ற வரலாற்றில் முதன்முறையாக இருக்கும். அப்படிப்பட்டதொரு முதல் முயற்சியை தாங்கள் எடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறோம்.

இந்த சமயத்தில், "சிறப்பு நிகழ்வுகள்" மட்டுமில்லாமல் சட்டமன்றத்தின் அனைத்து நிகழ்வுகளையும் முழுமையாக நேரடி ஒளிபரப்பக் கோரும் எங்களது பொதுநல மனு மீதான அடுத்த விசாரணையின் போது, இதற்கு அரசு தயாராக உள்ளது என்று சாதகமான பதில் மனுவைத் தாக்கல் செய்யவேண்டும் என்றும் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறோம்.
