Reg Amenities in Railway Stations.. Satta Panchayat PIL..

To the editors:

Today, Satta Panchayat Iyakkam's(SPI) Public Interest Litigation(PIL) demanding toilet, drinking water facilities in railway stations came to hearing as first case in first bench.(Affidavit can be found at : http://spicourtdocs.blogspot.in/ ) I, myself argued for SPI as Party in Person. Railway officials submitted that, they have already called for tenders.
In the court, we have mentioned that 80% toilets in Chennai and Suburban stations don't have  functional toilets(referred our field survey done in 2014 November in 47 stations). Chief justice ordered to arrange temporary arrangement to give amenities. Also he ordered railway official to file compliance status on April 25th, 2016 detailing the amenities that they have provided in railway stations.

PLS LOOK AT THE ATTACHED PHOTOS. THESE WERE TAKEN TODAY(11TH FEB) AT 8.35AM AT THIRUVANMIYUR RAILWAY STATION(TIDEL PARK). BOTH, GENTS,LADIES TOILETS WERE CLOSED. BUT THE STICKER INFRONT OF THE GENTS TOILET DOOR SAYS "...YOU CAN GET THE KEY FROM STATION OFFICE". It is to be noted that, platform is in 2nd floor and office is in ground floor..!!  Does it mean the passenger needs to run down 2 floors to get toilet door key ?? 

Central govt is spearheading the campaign "Swach Bharath". But 80% stations in chennai city does not have toilet..!!??

Requesting media to write about it to ensure 15 lakhs passengers who travels daily in these stations get basic amenities. Thanks.
