Encouraged by Sustained Interventions UPLA Declares Ceasefire

Inspired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar And Assam CM-Sarbanda Sonowal, Outfit To Leave Armed Struggle and Join Mainstream

Guwahati, 15 August, 2018: With India's 72nd Independence Day in tow, the United People's Liberation Army, after eight years of armed struggle, has agreed to put down the guns as a means to secure justice, and has instead decided to choose the way of democracy. The outfit agreed to "suspend…armed struggle and declare a ceasefire with the State and Central Government and explore the possibilities of pursuing our demands through dialogue," it said in a statement released by the outfit.

Acknowledging Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder, The Art of Living and Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Chief Minister's sustained interventions for a peaceful dialogue, UPLA Chairman  Sorjon Loeh said, "Inspired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji and positive interventions by the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowalji and later by Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghangji and his Council members we have decided to explore democratic means for meeting our long-standing political demands."  

"Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shanker's vision has inspired us to look for democratic ways of fulfilling the aspirations of Karbi Anglong people. His emissaries are guiding us to come to the mainstream and inspired us see our demands with a bigger and long-term vision," explained Songsarpo Tungjang, joint secretary, in-charge, UPLA.

गुरुदेव श्री श्री रवि शंकर और असाम के माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल से प्रेरित हो संगठन ने सशस्त्र संघर्ष का रास्ता छोड़ मुख्यधारा में शामिल होने का मार्ग अपनाया

गुवाहाटी, 15 अगस्त 2018: भारत के 72वें स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर, आठ साल से चले आ रहे सशस्त्र संघर्ष को विराम देते हुए संयुक्त पीपुल्स लिबरेशन आर्मी ने हथियार छोड़ मुख्यधारा में शामिल हो, लोकतंत्र का मार्ग चुनने का फैसला किया है। संगठन ने अपनी ओर से जारी एक बयान में कहा, "हमारा संगठन सशस्त्र संघर्ष को निलंबित कर और राज्य एवं केंद्र सरकार के साथ युद्धविराम की घोषणा कर वार्ता के माध्यम से अपनी मांगों को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए तैयार है।"

यूपीएलए के चेयरमैन सोरजन लोइह  ने कहा, "आर्ट ऑफ लिविंग के संस्थापक, गुरूदेव श्री श्री रवि शंकर के साथ हुई शांतिपूर्ण बातचीत से प्रेरित हो और असम के मुख्यमंत्री श्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल और बाद में करबी एंग्लोंग स्वायत्त परिषद (केएएसी) के मुख्य कार्यकारी सदस्य (सीईएम) तुलिरम रोंगांगजी और उनके परिषद के सदस्यों द्वारा किए गए के निरंतर मध्यवर्तन को स्वीकार करते हुए हमने संघर्ष विराम करने और लोकतांत्रिक साधनों के माध्यम से अपनी दीर्घकालिक राजनीतिक मांगों को पूरा करने का फैसला किया है।" 

"गुरुदेव श्री श्री रवि शंकर के दृष्टिकोण ने हमें करबी एंग्लोंग लोगों की आकांक्षाओं को लोकतांत्रिक तरीकों से पूरा करने के लिए प्रेरित किया है। वह हमें मुख्यधारा से जोड़ने के लिए हमारा मार्गदर्शन कर रहे हैं और हमारी मांगों को एक बड़ी और दीर्घकालिक दृष्टि से देखने के लिए प्रेरित भी कर रहे हैं।"
